Heavy-duty recovery

Truck or bus after an accident

After an accident involving a truck or bus, the road needs to be cleared as quickly as possible. BCF Mobiliteit recovers heavy vehicles day and night, throughout Friesland. On the motorway we work on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch road authority. Those jobs come to us through the Centraal Meldpunt Vrachtautoberging (CMV), the central truck recovery desk.

On the motorway

Accident on the motorway: the CMV

Did the accident happen on a national motorway? Then the Centraal Meldpunt Vrachtautoberging (CMV) arranges the recovery. The CMV works for Rijkswaterstaat and sends a designated recovery company. BCF Mobiliteit is affiliated with the CMV.

So on those roads you do not need to call a recovery company yourself. Sometimes Rijkswaterstaat decides to postpone the recovery to a quieter moment, for example in the evening. If hazardous substances are involved or people are seriously injured, the recovery takes place straight away.

Other roads

Accident on a provincial or local road

On other roads you can call us directly on 058 30 30 125. We ask about the location, the vehicle, the load and whether the road is damaged. Then we send the recovery truck that suits the situation.

At the scene of the accident we coordinate the recovery with the police, the fire service and the road authority.

After the recovery

Vehicle, load and next steps

Can the truck no longer be driven? Then we take it to the dealer, your own workshop or our storage facility. Is only the tractor unit damaged? Then we can bring a replacement tractor unit, so the trailer and its load can continue.

We coordinate the settlement with your insurer or leasing company.

Situations we help with include

  • Trucks and combinations after a collision
  • Buses and coaches after an accident
  • Trucks that have left the road or are lying on their side
  • Accidents on the motorway via the CMV

Frequently asked questions

Can I call a recovery company myself for my truck on the motorway?

On national motorways, Rijkswaterstaat arranges the recovery of trucks through the CMV. You do not need to call a recovery company yourself. On other roads you can call us directly.

Who pays for recovering a truck after an accident?

That depends on the situation and the insurance. For trucks, recovery is not always covered as standard by the third-party (WA) policy. It often goes through the own-damage (casco) insurance or the transport company. We coordinate it with the parties involved.

Why is a truck sometimes recovered later?

Rijkswaterstaat may decide to postpone the recovery to a quieter moment, for example in the evening. That way the road reopens sooner during the day. If hazardous substances are involved or people are seriously injured, the recovery takes place straight away.
